2. Working Principle of DTH Drilling

Step 1: Air supply power – The matched air compressor provides stable high-pressure compressed air, which is transmitted downhole through the drill rod to drive the internal piston of the DTH hammer to reciprocate at high frequency.

Step 2: High-frequency rock breaking – The piston continuously strikes the drill bit with strong impact force. Meanwhile, the power head drives the drill rod and bit to rotate slowly, forming uniform impact and shear force on the rock surface to crack and break hard rock efficiently.

Step 3: Air flushing and deslagging – The residual high-pressure air is sprayed out through the gap of the drill bit, blowing rock dust and cuttings out of the hole in real time, keeping the borehole clean and avoiding drilling jamming.

Step 4: Continuous feeding and hole forming – The hydraulic feeding system pushes the drill string forward steadily. With the integration of impact, rotation and deslagging, regular and smooth blast holes or pilot holes are continuously formed.
